Four test positive for H1N1

    Four more persons, including two students of DAV Public School, Sector 8, have tested positive for swine flu taking the total number of cases in the city to 73.

    The patients include two 12 years old Class VII students of DAV School, who are residents of Sector 7 and Sector 15, respectively. Both the positive students have been quarantined at their home and put on Tamiflu.

    The school has already been closed for seven days, as four positive cases have surfaced in the school so far.

    One more sample of a student of this school was collected today and reports would come on Wednesday.

    The other positive cases on Tuesday include a 25-year-old nurse of GMCH. She and her family have been quarantined at their residence and put on medication.

    A 35-year-old resident of Karnal, who has been admitted in the isolation ward in the PGI, also tested positive for H1N1. “The condition of all the four patients is stable and they have started to respond to the treatment,” said a senior official.

    In a related development, a 21-year-old third year student of Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Sector 12, has tested positive for swine flu at his residence in New Delhi. “The student was in hostel till November 8 and was suffering from fever. He left for Delhi on November 8 and tested positive there. We have sent all the students residing with him to the hospital for screening,” said, Prof M L Gupta Dean students welfare (DSW), PEC. Twenty-four students have been screened and no one is suspected.
