Fourth round of counselling to fill engineering colleges seats

Till August 8 they are required to report and take up these seats by submitting the admission fees. The third counselling was open for all,even for those who had submitted fees and taken a particular branch.

“The candidate had a choice to either change his branch and institute or retain the one allotted to him. In both the cases,he had to submit his choice. During the third round of counselling,there were many cases who had opted for a change and had been subsequently allotted one,” said a JAC officials.

This is the first year when online counselling is being implemented for admission to five engineering institutes and one Architecture College at Chandigarh. Last year,although the submission of forms and allotment was online,the counselling was physical.

After the first round of online counselling this year,only around 300 candidates took the seats allotted to them and after the second round,as many as 500 seats out of a total of 1,500 were still lying vacant,even in prestigious institutes like PEC University of Technology.

The other institutes included under the JAC are University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) at PU; Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET),Sector 26; University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET) at PU; Swami Sarvanand Giri,Panjab University,Regional Centre (SSGPURC),Hoshiarpur; and Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA),Sector 12.
