‘Fracture care is a major issue in orthopaedics’

  • A state-level trauma and orthopaedics update workshop was organised by Punjab Health Systems Corporation (PHSC) in Mohali on Saturday with the support of Dr Mandeep Singh Dhillon, Head, Department of Orthopaedics, PGI, Chandigarh. 

    Attended by orthopaedic doctors and surgeons working at the district and sub-divisional hospitals of PHSC, the workshop was inaugurated by Punjab Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, M S Sandhu. 

    The objective of the workshop was to upgrade the knowledge of doctors in the field of orthopaedics, especially trauma care. 

    The faculty members from medical institutions of the region, including PGIMER, GMCH-32, GMSH-16, and Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, delivered lectures and presentations on the topic. 

    While discussing the management of plasters and surgical interventions, Professor Dhillon said the fracture care is a major issue and interventions vary from simple plaster to modern techniques these days.

    Dr Narinder Arora, medical superintendent, GMSH, Dr Rajnish Garg, associate professor, DMCH, Dr Ravi Gupta, associate professor, GMCH-32, Dr S Garg, Dr Sameer Aggarwal, Dr Raghav Saini, Dr Sarvdeep Dhatt and Dr Devendra Chauhan also spoke on the occasion.
