On receiving information that two persons would be coming to the sub registrar office number 19 with bogus documents, the police laid a trap and nabbed Maniyar and Wahalkar from a car. On interrogation, the suspects told the police that they had prepared bogus franking documents and submitted them at the sub registrar office about two months ago. The suspects said they fled the office after officials found the papers suspicious.

Police are now probing whether the suspects have done more bogus franking in the city as forged rubber stamps of five sub registrar offices were obtained from their possession. Assistant police inspector Shriram Pol is investigating the case under the guidance of deputy commissioner of police (zone IV) Sanjay Jadhav.
