A freelance journalist was arrested on Thursday for blackmailing a Faridabad-based property dealer after secretly filming him in a compromising position with a woman.
A freelance journalist was arrested on Thursday for blackmailing a Faridabad-based property dealer after secretly filming him in a compromising position with a woman.
According to the police,Sanjiv Sharma (34) who was arrested from the India Habitat Centre (IHC) conspired with a businessman,Neeraj Aggarwal,to extract money from Rajender Singh Khattana. Aggarwal owed Khattana Rs 6 lakh.
H G S Dhaliwal,DCP (South),said Khattana lodged a complaint on March 21 stating he was being blackmailed. He said he had received a call from a woman who introduced herself as an LIC agent. They became friends. On March 12,they had consensual sex.
Khattana said a week later he received a call from Sharma who demanded Rs 10 lakh. Khattana agreed to pay Rs 30,000 as advance. Sharma was to meet him at the IHC and a trap was laid.
