Talking to Newsline,Kumar’s mother Poonam said that she had no idea what is happening.

Family members of Vikrant Kumar,a Sector 44 resident who was arrested by the police following a complaint by the driver of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) (East) and Director,IT,Tanvi Garg, were in a state of absolute shock after Kumar’s arrest.

Talking to Newsline,Kumar’s mother Poonam said,“I have no idea what is happening. First the police came at around 5 pm and asked my son his name. Two hours later, the police returned and asked for Vikrant. He was not at home then. While I was asking them what had happened and why they were asking for my son,Vikrant came and asked me to go inside. He kept talking to the police officials for some time. A few minutes later Vikrant came and said that he was going to the police station. I am still waiting for him”.

Kumar’s wife,Pamelpreet said,“This is sheer misuse of power. My husband was right when he said that all the roads should be blocked when the IAS should pass”.

After Kumar was released on bail, one of his friends,Rakesh said,“These are the ways a common man is forced to become a criminal. Vikrant did not do anything wrong and he had to spend the night in the police station. Now the one because of whom all this happened is bailing him out”.

After he was released on bail,Kumar, with his three-month-old daughter in his lap said,“I will make her (his daughter) an IAS or IPS officer, but not for harassing people, but only in order to help them”.
