From Delhi In A Day to Amreeka
Film is about a foreigner who comes to India in search of spirituality and is trapped between rich social drama of Delhi families.
Delhi In A Day was screened at MAMI and got a very good response. This Lillete Dubey-Kulbhushan Kharbanda starrer, directed by debutant Prashant Nair, received a capacity audience, and a warm response. Everybody wanted to know about the Paris-based directors next. When contacted, debutant Prashant Nair,a former social media entrepreneur, revealed,My next is going to be a comedy with a rural setting. Titled Amreeka,it will look at the rural Indians dreams of settling in the US and the issues of illegal immigration.
Amreeka is still in the scripting stage. Nair will start the casting next month. Since it has a rural setting, the director plans to have Bihar as the backdrop.
As for Delhi…,it is a comic take on the rich Delhi socialite scene. It revolves around a foreigner, played by Lee Williams, who comes to India in search of spirituality and gets trapped between all the rich social drama of the Delhi families. Though the film was screened at MAMI,it may take some eight to 12 months for its theatrical release in India.
Talking about her experiences on working with a debutant,Lillette says,I have always liked to work with new directors. My Brother…Nikhil was Onirs first film and even Nikhil Advanis Kal Ho Naa Ho. I enjoy working with debutants because they come up with fresh ideas. As for Delhi… it was a wonderful experience and Nair is a talented director. I am really glad that the film was appreciated at MAMI.
