Come November, and Domino’s pizza outlets will turn Pulse Polio booths on immunisation days, with its delivery boys also doing their bit to spread awareness about the disease.

As per an MoU signed between Domino’s Pizza India Ltd and Rotary International’s India National Polio Plus committee this month, the former will promote polio immunisation across the country along with pizza delivery. Domino’s Pizza India Ltd will support Rotary’s information, education and communication programme during home delivery by displaying banners advocating polio immunisation at its 275 outlets spread across 45 cities and using posters on delivery vehicles. “Apart from this, our stores across the country will act as Pulse Polio booths on immunisation days,” said Basab Bordoloi,VP,Human Resource,of Dominos.

“Against the common belief that only weaker sections of the society or those living in poor conditions object to the polio drop, even members of elite society resist the vaccination. However, their reason for resistance is different. With this unique MoU we aim to take across the message that polio drops should be given to each and every child across all societies,” said Ajay Saxena of the India National Polio Plus committee.

The first polio booths will be set up during the next immunisation day, scheduled for the first week of November. The WHO,UNICEF and Government of India are other partners of Naional Polio Plus. Meanwhile, sources said talks were on with other corporate organisations to spread word about the polio immunisation across the country.
