Funds cleared to improve Gurgaon water,sewage system

The water supply and sewage system in the district is set to undergo major improvements with the National Capital Region Planning Board approving three projects to the tune of Rs 109 crore.

The water supply and sewage system in the district is set to undergo major improvements with the National Capital Region Planning Board approving three projects to the tune of Rs 109 crore.

Public Health minister Kiran Choudhary said of these three projects,two have been approved for augmentation of drinking water supply for Farrukh Nagar and Pataudi.

The minister said the status of drinking water in Farrukh Nagar is 78 litres per capita per day. The augmentation project for this town has been approved at a cost of Rs 28 crore. Against this project,combined water works of 5.27 million litres per day capacity near village Badli will be provided,while there is also a proposal of constructing three boosting stations and laying distribution pipeline of various sizes of 41.87 kilometers length.

Once the project is completed,around 21,000 persons from five adjoining villages Saidpur,Moharnrnadpur Khantavas,Dhanawah,Chand Nagar Ki Dhani would benefit,said the minister.

Regarding Pataudi,a government official said presently the drinking water supply status is 87. The augmentation project for this town has been approved at a cost of Rs 70 crore. One intermediate boosting station,one water treatment plant of 17 million litres per day capacity,construction of two boosting stations will be provided in this project.

At the same time,sewage system and treatment plant for Farrukh Nagar has also been cleared.

To provide the basic ammenity a project has been approved for Rs,11.95 crore,which would involve construction of main pumping station and one Sewage Treatment Plant of 3 MLD capacity.

Besides 18.85 kilometers long sewer lines of various sizes would be laid. This project would benefit a population of 15.000 persons,the official said.
