New Delhi, September 26:: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Friday issued notice to Delhi police over the encounter in Jamia Nagar in which two suspected Indian Mujahideen militants linked with serial blasts in Delhi and other cities were killed.

The Commission issued the notice to city Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal and asked him to submit a report on the incident.

The notice was issued on a complaint filed by an NGO, a senior NHRC official said.

Two suspected militants were shot dead in a gun battle with the police in South Delhi's Jamia Nagar on September 19 in which Special Cell Inspector M C Sharma was also killed.

Police had claimed that a 13-member module of the Indian Mujahideen was behind the serial blasts in the national capital which claimed over 20 lives and left about 100 injured.

Five persons were also arrested last week for their alleged role in the blasts.

Human rights by Dinesh on 2008-09-26 18:28:39.336185+05:30
send reports to these suckers who see human rights violations only in police actions not politicians and certainly not terrorists and fundamentalists.
WHAT ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS OF BLAST VICTIMS by anon on 2008-09-26 18:16:26.845712+05:30
NHRC = National Terrorists' Human Rights Commisiion ? Where are these guys when blasts are happening across the country? Why dont they send notices to the Government asking them what measures they have taken to protect the lives of INNOCENT CITIZENS? The moment somebody cries "human rights", then it is very evident it is a cover-up for terrorists and anti-nationals. This technique was pioneered by the Maoists and is being put to good use by the Jihadis!!
Human rights ( spare us guys ) by pooja on 2008-09-26 17:57:18.057407+05:30
It is important in a democratic set up to have checks and balances in place but when it comes to fighting terror we need to give some leverage to men in uniform who die trying to save these very democratic values that we belive in. Army bashing and now police bashing seems to be the latest trend with these jholawala Human rights organisations. would some one look into who is funding these NGO's/ Human rights organisations ???

NHRC Seeking Report by Ashok Mehdiratta on 2008-09-26 17:43:44.284912+05:30
It is worth asking NHRC if it has sent a notice to IM to seek full report on the process and planning for future bomb blasts and also seek Terrorists permission before initiating any police action so that they can have a perfect alibi. What the hell does NHRC want to know? Why were the terrorists killed or why only Inspector Sharma was killed. It is pathetic, disgusting and sickening when these so called social organizations behave in such irresponsible manner.Do the victims have no human rights?NHRC should have asked why Afzal has not been hanged so far,why terrorists were taken to Kandhar, why Hindu fanatics anti national organizations Raj Thackrey's party are not banned, why Sangh Parivar is taking law in its own hands in Orissa and Karnataka?NHRC is another fraud front to make money. They need to set their house in order so that Govt machinery is not interfered with.Appeasement in the name of secularism needs to be stopped.

Funny by Sandeep on 2008-09-26 17:12:28.25447+05:30
Isn’t it funny and ridiculous? Why can’t NHRC also send notice to militants? What about a brave police inspector died here in encounter? What about many people who are dying in India because of teririiosm? Please stop politics and let Police and other agencies clear the mess created by many politicians and some agencies like this.
