The division number 8 police have busted a gang comprising a man and his son-in-law, which was involved in supplying charas and smack to the college students and rich people of the city.
Disclosing this, the SHO, Division no. 8, Maninder Singh Bedi, said, “We have arrested two drug peddlers, Brij Lal and Rajinder Kumar, both residents of Hargobind Nagar from near the Ganda Nullah pulli, Kundan Puri, and recovered 275 gm of smack and 200 gm of charas from them.” The search of the drug peddlers was done under the supervision of DSP Raj Kumar.
Bedi said, “The two drug peddlers are related in the sense that Brij Lal is the father-in-law of Rajinder Kumar and both have prior crime history. The duo has confessed to selling their wares from area around Ganda Nullah, which is a huge stretch and is covered by police stations like that of division numbers 6, 4, 8 and Haibowal. This area provided them a good space to run in case the police swooped down on them and also provided anonymity for the high-heeled who came in their swanky cars here to buy their dozes.”
As per the police, Rajinder has also confessed to supplying drugs to the college-going girls by standing outside the girls college situated near the Ghumar Mandi. One gram of smack, as per these drug peddlers, fetched them anywhere between Rs 250 to Rs 500 per gram.
Bedi said, “The duo has confessed that they were supplied these drugs by a lady who lives on the outskirts of the city. We have already narrowed down on this lady and she too would be arrested soon.” Meanwhile, both Brij Lal and Rajinder Kumar have been booked under sections 20 and 21/61/85 of the NDPS Act.
