The Fatehgarh Sahib police has arrested nine members of a gang involved in stealing scrap and other items from factories situated in Mandi Gobindgarh and the surrounding area.
"These arrests were made a couple of days ago. Ravi Kumar, the head of the gang, has been remanded in police custody," said Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Hardyal Singh Mann. "We have come to know that these people used to steal metal scrap and other items lying in factories and sell them to dealers here in Mandi Gobindgarh. We have arrested Arun Kumar Bhatia, the dealer, who used to buy all this material."
While the police have found scrap worth Rs 2 lakh from this dealer, they have also recovered a pistol with three live cartridges, one knife, one air pistol with 30 rounds, heavy blunt weapons made of iron and a Tata 207, which was used by the gang to take away the stolen material.
