WITH the arrest of two persons,the Mohali district police on Wednesday claimed to have busted an interstate gang of drug peddlers,illegal scrap and duplicate product dealers.
Those arrested have been identified as Radhey,a native of Bihar and currently putting up at Ballomajra village in Kharar,and Chhotey Lal a native of Uttar Pradesh and at present working as a scrap dealer near Ghaggar bridge in Mohalis Bhankarpur.
The police have recovered a cache of 1.5 kg of charas estimated to cost Rs 3.25 lakh 2.6 quintals of stolen scrap material and 40 kg of duplicate washing powder from the accused.
Mohali SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said Radhey was intercepted at a checkpost on the Mohali-Kharar National Highway 21,when he was on his way to supply the contraband to customers. Chhotey,on the other hand,was arrested during a raid at his workplace,from where illegal scrap material and duplicate washing powder were recovered.
The accused have been remanded to 14-day judicial custody,said the SSP.
