Gastroentritis-hit undergoing treatment at Mahavir Jain Hospital at Sunder Nagar area.

Gastroenteritis out-break looms large over various congested localities of the city, including Sunder Naga, New Madhopuri and Shivpuri where over a dozen cases of gastroenteritis have surfaced during the past two days. A few gastro cases have also been reported from the areas like Bindra colony, Nanak Nagar and Mahavir Jain colony, it is learnt.

Nearly 10 cases of gastroenteritis from Sunder Nagar locality alone have been admitted to the local hospitals in Sunder Nagar and same number of patients from Madhpuri have also been undergoing treatment at the local clinics.

The inhabitants of some vehras in New Madhopuri (Gali No. 15) said that the water supply had been faulty over the past few days and various residents of the vehras there were falling ill with stomach problems.

The residents of Madhopuri had also staged a dharna over the problem of water contamination last month and the MC team had later declared that the water supply was not faulty. However, residents claim the water being supplied was still not clean.
