
“We have a submersible pump at our vehra and the water we are getting from this is of bad quality. The MC has also not taken many steps to ensure that water supply to the area from another source,” another inhabitant of a vehra in New Madhopuri said.
The doctors at Jain Hospital said the hospital was receiving patients of gastroenteritis from these localities daily. “We have been receiving patients of the disease from these areas on a daily basis,” said Dr Pooja Bhaskar at Jain Hospital. In another adjoining area of Sardar Nagar, the residents have also been protesting against the supply of water being contaminated.
When asked, Dr SS Dhir, district health officer, said, “We have taken five samples of water from Sunder Nagar and Madhopuri to ascertain whether the water supply, as alleged by the residents of the locality, is contaminated.”
