Gauri Shinde who walked away with the Most Promising Debut Director at the Screen Awards, has been invited to various festivals around the world because of her fabulous debut film English Vinglish.
Shinde who has pocketed four awards and various felicitations headed to the Indo-German Filmweek to be held in Berlin from February 5-11, this Tuesday. The fest has a special focus on Indian films as Bollywood celebrates 100 years of cinema and opened with Anurag Basu's Barfi!, followed by a screening of English Vinglish on day two. Prominent film personalities like Anurag Basu, Anjum Rajabali, Gauri Shinde and others like Keith Cunningham and Jochen Brunow spoke on principles of storytelling, the process of turning a screenplay into a movie and more. "I am very excited to go to Berlin because that's where my first short film Oh Man! was also screened," said the director a few days before her departure.
Shinde is also readying herself for the South Asian Festival to be held in London in March and then the Panama Festival in April. "Besides the screening of the film, I will be part of a panel discussion and speak on various aspects of film-making," reveals the excited director.
