Taking a cue from multinational companies to spend more during global recession, a gaushala in the heart of Jagroan has come up with a novel idea to encourage, rather lure, people to become philanthropists. Donate a minimum of Rs 100 to the gaushala and get eligible to win motorcycles, refrigerators and a brand new Maruti car. The draw will be held on January 25 next year.
Shri Krishna Gaushala has shown the bait of over 450 prizes to be won including a tractor or a Maruti car, five motorcycles, five refrigerators, 10 colour TV sets, 10 mobile phones, five DVD players besides sewing machines, bicycles, fans, steam irons, dinner sets, wrist watches and wall clocks.
The gaushala authorities had set up a stall at Jargaon grain market, the venue for the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s Vikas Yatra, which arrived in the town today.
As people from Jagraon and surrounding areas thronged the function, the lottery stall also attracted a number of visitors who promptly made donations in a hope to win prizes.
Refusing to divulge the number of donations made at the venue, a man collecting donations at the stall quipped, “The response is tremendous.”
A happy donor summed it up very nicely, “It’s like a double deal. One becomes a good Samaritans and also stands a chance to win prizes.”
