RJD chief Lalu Prasad denounced Delhi High Court's ruling decriminalising gay sex and felt the Centre should appeal against the judgement in the Supreme Court.

"Gay sex should not be legalised at any cost and the Centre should appeal against the verdict in the Supreme Court. I am dead against legalisation of gay sex and will strongly raise the issue in Parliament. Section 377 of the IPC should not be amended," Prasad said.

Asked whether homosexuality is still a crime, he said: "Yes, it is a crime... Such obscene acts should not be allowed in our country. The society is adversely affected."

"Such things which affect the society should not be permitted at all... Government has a greater responsibility towards the society," Prasad said.

"I don't want to talk about such rubbish things. These are obscene things which our country and culture do not permit," he said.

The Delhi High Court had on Thursday legalised gay sex among consenting adults holding that the law making it a criminal offence violated fundamental rights.

Re:TalibBy: Prashant | 09-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward "homosecsuality "?"psycologist"?"secsologist"?You've just proved how much you know about sexual preferences. I think you need to research a little more and get your facts right. "they should buried until their neck and stone them to death"??You're in India. Get a life, or move to another country. Its very embarassing for us to know that there are people who are so narrow minded in our country.
Do not advertise yourself in the name of societyBy: sukam | 07-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward Human freedom is essential so long as use of that freedom does not impinge on another person's freedom. The court verdict is all about freedom of choice. The latest religion is "LIVE LIFE YOUR WAY AND DO NOT HURT ANOTHER PERSON WHILE DOING SO". And this is valid for any faith(the so called religions). So there is no need to create a big rucus about the court ruling. Open your mind and you will find this a non-issue.
Ref:talibBy: DeeDee | 06-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward This is not Talibanistan where we bury people in sand and stone them to death just because they choose to love differently.I think you are in the wrong country.
Counselling requiredBy: talib | 06-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward He who is a gaey is not a gaey by birth. There is always some incident during the childhood/puberty that leads to one become homosecsual. It's a researched fact that homosecsuality is a kind of ailment that needs to be treated by proper counseling from a psycologist or a secsologist. Legalizing this ailment will destroy our society. We are in a secular country unlike other countries whether the people destroy themselves with a false notion for freedom. As an Indian regardless of the faith, how can one see any of our sons/brothers getting involved in this shameful act. People like Karan Johar and others who promote this shameful acts in their films should be punished. Karan himself is a homo. I like the shariah (islamic) law of punishing the homos - they should buried until their neck and stone them to death. If this punishment is levied in India, easily this homosecsuality disease can be treated 100 per cent.
Gay.. its an ill wind that blows the society no goodBy: JOSHUA KIPKEMOI BOITT | 06-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward We should learn to walk before we run,Oh! no legalising gay rights ,the society in shambles we have lost a sense of direction and are doomed to perish. We should not emulate the nations that legalises gayism, but learn to create our own rights for posterity.Lau Prasad is right ,we should not legalise gay sex at any cost.On the other hand, the society is to blame for brewing gays, how? our sons and daughters should be given freedom to mingle to one another in school and at home if we are to avoid gays in society,it all begun by them.. not able to mix freely with the opposite sex,but critics will pipe hot on this. This is the genesis of gayism...an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. The wind is blowing and penal code has been change,377 flashing when and where will it be restored to its glory back to you Supreme court...make it a better place for mothers and fathers are wailing we have hope in you.
