A city court has dropped the proceedings to make former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda's employee Chanshivroop Singh an approver in the Geetika Sharma suicide case, after he failed to appear before court to record his statement as a witness.

The court of ACMM Devender Kumar Jangala had earlier passed an order granting "conditional pardon" to Singh "on the condition that he shall make a full and true disclosure of whole of the circumstances within his knowledge related to the offence and relating to all the accused persons regarding commission of the offence".

Singh, an employee with Kanda's company, MDLR, was named as a co-accused by the police in the abetment of suicide case against Gopal Kanda and MDLR executive Aruna Chaddha.

In the chargesheet filed in the case, the police had alleged that Singh had been sent to Dubai by Kanda when Geetika was working with Emirates, to "persuade" her to return to MDLR.

The police have also accused him of having sent fake emails to the deceased stating that the Indian Consulate had begun extradition proceedings against her

"The perusal of the material on record reveals that the tender of pardon is not accepted by the applicant / accused Chanshivroop Singh. The applicant / accused has failed to appear in the court to get his statement recorded as a witness," noted the court in its order.

The matter was kept pending regarding the acceptance of tender of pardon by him but he did not attend the court proceedings thereafter and the police informed the judge that he has fled to the US.

"The proceedings of approver initiated on the application moved by the applicant/ accused Chanshivroop Singh, are dropped. The Investigating Officer is directed to proceed in the matter as per provision of law," said the court.
