Police today seized huge quantity of explosive materials and apprehended two persons in this connection.
D Srinivas and V Yadaiah were found in possession of 1,600 gelatin sticks (weighing 200 kgs) and 32 bundles of electric detonators numbering 1,450 units besides two cars that were used to supply the explosive materials,Hyderabad Police Commissioner A K Khan told reporters.
In wake of the July 13 serial blasts in Mumbai,the police have stepped up vigil in the state.
Acting on a tip-off,the Task Force sleuths (South Zone) nabbed the duo from I S Sadan area,he said.
“The duo did not possess any documents with regard to the explosive materials,” Khan said,adding “This is serious violation of the Explosives Substances Act.”
The seized consignment,being brought to Hyderabad from Nalgonda,belongs to an explosive manufacturing company.
Police were verifying if the materials had been stolen from that company or if somebody from the firm had illegally supplied them to the accused,the Commissioner said.
A probe in the case was on,Khan added.
