Investigation into the alleged rape of a minor German, a case in which Goa Education Minister’s son Rohit has been named accused, has hit a roadblock with the girl yet to depose before the police or undergo medical examination.

“We have deferred Rohit’s arrest till we get the statement from the girl or we get her medically examined,” Superintendent of Police (North) Bosco George said.

The police action had triggered a political row with some Ministers and legislators questioning police’s wisdom to charge Rohit ‘without valid evidence’ and even demanding the change in leadership in the Congress-led Government.

All India Congress Committee general secretary B Hariprasad, who flew down here to resolve the row, was briefed by the rebel group on how the police had not followed proper procedure before booking the Minister’s son.
