  • The labour court for Pune district has directed the workers of Cummins India Limited (CIL) to join work at the earliest. The court order also said that the 55 employees who were suspended should not join work and face an enquiry. These include some members of the "Kirloskar Cummins Employees’ Union."

Around three weeks ago, 500 workers of CIL had staged an agitation when the company issued suspension orders. The Union members resorted to violence in the canteen in which a senior HR manager was injured and had to be hospitalised.

Since then company operations have been put on hold. Meanwhile, Union members met the labour commissioner and requested him to intervene in the matter. The labour commissioner, too, had directed the workers to join work. The union members, were not available for comment on the court order.
