Get ready for new syllabus,semester system from this academic year

Vice-Chancellor Parimal Trivedi told The Indian Express that the new syllabus will cover objective and subjective types of study materials

The syllabus of under-graduate and post-graduate courses in eight faculties of Gujarat University will be changed as per the credit-based study system from the next academic year. The eight faculties are: Arts,Commerce,Science,Law,Bachelor of Business Administration,Bachelor of Computer Applications,Bachelor of Physical Education and Computers

Vice-Chancellor Parimal Trivedi told The Indian Express that the new syllabus will cover objective and subjective types of study materials. The format of examinations will cover objective questions,multiple-choice questions and long questions,he added.

Under the new system,an academic year will be divided into two semesters. There will be one examination at the end of first semester and the annual examination in the second semester. Each semester will be of 100 marks,covering 30 for internal assessment and 70 for university’s external exams.

Of the 30 marks under internal assessment,five will be for attendance,five for seminar and for viva.

According to Trivedi,the syllabi will be based on international standards and students will get all degrees with honours. The students will get grading in seven scales,with the last scale being ‘D’ for having scored 36 per cent marks,the minimum required to pass the examination.

The highest grade will be A++ for 85 per cent and above. Other grades are A+,A,B++,B+,B.
