A 20-year-old Delhi resident was allegedly gangraped by three men in Ghaziabad on Monday night. Police said the three men, two of whom have been arrested, picked up the girl — a BCom student — in a stolen auto-rickshaw from outside Shipra Mall.
She got into the auto presuming that it was a "share auto" which was on its way to Delhi, police said.
"Around 8.30 pm on Monday, the woman was waiting outside the mall for an auto to get back to Delhi, when the three men approached her and she got into their auto. Two of them sitting in the rear gagged her and drove along the National Highway to Masuri. There they gangraped her," a senior police officer said.
Around 10.30 pm, they left her in a field in Masuri and fled with her wallet and her mobile phone, police said.
The woman then walked to the Masuri police station and told police personnel what had happened.
"We tracked the accused using the woman's mobile phone. Ankit and Dabban, both residents of Masuri, have been arrested and remanded in custody. The third man, Vikram, is absconding. They stole the auto on March 2. While the medical examination of the woman is inconclusive on rape, we have registered a case based on the complaint of the woman," Rannvijay, DSP, said.
Police said two other rape cases — of minors aged 15 and 8 — were reported in Greater Noida over the past 48 hours.
In the first case, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from outside her house at Ghori Samastipur village on Monday. "When she didn't return home, her family approached the police station and lodged a missing person complaint. We conducted a search in the village and rescued her from the house of one Kallu. The girl later told us that that she was gangraped by four men. Kallu has been arrested. Another of the accused, Jayaprakash, is absconding. The two others are yet to be identified," a senior officer said. Cases under sections of abduction, attempt to rape, and rape have been registered.
