Men's top-seed Sourav Ghosal and defending champion Siddharth Suchde registered comfortable back-to-back wins to cruise into the quarterfinals of the 37th Bombay Gymkhana Maharashtra State Open Senior Squash Championship on Monday.
India No. 1 Ghosal first warmed up with a straight sets second round win over Anshul Goyal of Otters Club and later prevailed over Aneesh Sengupta of Hiranandani in the pre-quarterfinals.
India No. 2 and second seed Suchde also won his second round tie in straight sets before overcoming Shashi Pandey of Jindal Squash Academy 11-9, 11-2, 11-5 in the pre-quarterfinals. Fourth seed Vikas Jangra of Indian Navy was another high-profile name to enter the quarterfinals with a hard-fought win over Laxmani Joshi of Jindal.
Under-15 national champion Jui Kalgutkar of Bombay Gymkhana sailed into the women's second round.
