Women said their mission was to go bar-hopping on Feb 14 and send hundreds of pink knickers to Sri Ram Sene.

Thousands of Indians, many fuming over a recent assault on women in a Mangalore pub, are vowing to fill bars on Valentine's Day and send cartons of pink panties to Sri Ram Sene that has branded outgoing females immoral.

A ‘consortium of pub-going, loose and forward women’, founded by four women on social networking website Facebook has, in a matter of days, attracted more than 25,000 members with over 2,000 posts about the self-appointed moral police.

The women said their mission was to go bar-hopping on February 14 and send hundreds of pink knickers to Sri Ram Sene, that has said pubs are for men, and that women should stay at home and cook for their husbands.

Collection centres have sprung up in several cities, with volunteers calling for bright pink old-fashioned knickers as gifts to the Sri Ram Sene as a mark of defiance.

"Girl power! Go girls, go. Show Ram Sene who's the boss," reads one post on Facebook from Larkins Dsouza.

There is a separate campaign to ‘Walk to the nearest pub and buy a drink and raise a toast’, that has found supporters from Toronto to Bangkok to Sydney, with even teetotallers saying they will get a drink on Saturday to show solidarity.

"Though I don't promote smoking or drinking for both sexes, we definitely don't need hooligans telling us what to do and what not. Best of luck!", reads one post from Iftehar Ahsan.

There are more heated discussion threads as well that range from the limits of independence to religion and politics, reflecting the struggle facing a country that has long battled to balance its deep-rooted traditions with rapid modernisation.

How indian women look in Jeans. By: rameshraju | 15-May-2009 Reply | Forward Indian women look like goddess or more respectable in saree or salwar. The feeling of tradition and culture erases the exposure in saree. But in Jeans in look seducing and like Tomboys or Babes. Jeans degrades the status of women in the society. Infact western outfits makes a women to appear as sexual object. For Indian skin texture, Saree and Salwar suits best. Although Men are the builders of the society, Women are conservers of the society. When a man get spoiled, it is bad only for himself. But if a woman get spoiled, it indicates that society is spoiled. There is a very popular saying that "Men get spoiled by staying in, Women get spoiled by moving out". Once a woman comes out of tradition, the whole society ruins. Hence the beauty of a society or family can be estimated just by looking at women dressing sense. Gender equalism is not true. But Men and Women have their own unique status. Because, If Man is seed, Woman is the soil. We cannot say who is superior.
BJP/RSS/VHP/etc etcBy: Anant | 16-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward All these groups are nothing but goondas. They not only need pink chaddi but they also need bangles to wear. People who beat up girls and women can't be men but frustrated good for nothing henpecked low life on this earth. We all saw how the Shiv Sena diappeared during Mumbai tragedy Have we ever seen these goondas offering to go to loc and fight a real man war? No. They are too busy beating up brothers and sisters and young kids. unfortunately police is also mixed up with these animals and their BJP chiefs make noises in the press. BJP says one thing and actually does something very different. UPA is no better. All these politicians are poison for Indians and will destroy India.

The way the women potraysBy: Sampath Kumar | 14-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward Not many would be thinking from the feminist angle. Many in India feel that the attitude and morale of the women displaying their identity in the westernized "uniforms" is quite appalling. It is the women who has been on the provoking end and get abashed for their potrayal of sexes. Whether the women send cartons of panties to Ram sena Chief or inreturn get sarees is to be seen. Now, the heated discussion will be on the lines, whether to endorse the views potrayed by most men and women on the dress code or to endorse the way the women dress in public. Even great men who support women in their role would sheepshily grin and hang their heads in shame when the dress code is vulgarly potrayed by women in India. Perhaps the so called "sexism" in cosmogirl will help them realize the way to dress and behave in public places. Perhpas time will be a better judge and put some sense into the cosmogirl on drinking and smoking.
