The bail application plea of a 45-year-old businessman who is accused of raping his 16-year-old daughter came up for hearing before the Additional District and Sessions Judge Alka Mallik in the Gurgaon court on Tuesday.
But the hearing was postponed to April 22 as the defence asked for more time,a lawyer said.
The case has become complex as the girl retracted her statement before a judge, four days after lodging a FIR against her father. She was said to have denied that her father raped her.
Police said the girl claimed that she had told her school principal that her father had slapped her. The girl also said the principal in return took the case out of context and filed a case of rape.
Her father was arrested on the day the FIR was lodged on April 5.
Gurgaon Police Commissioner Alok Mittal said: We have already filed a chargesheet against the father on the basis of our investigation and will pursue this case rigorously when the trial begins.
The girl,a student of Class XII at a prominent school in Gurgaon, had filed a FIR alleging her father had been raping her for the past three years. Her medical examination had confirmed rape.
The family has been provided police security outside their upmarket condominium.
