Students from good universities always have better job opportunities,irrespective of recession,feels Mark Wilber of University of Strathclyde

With a motive to introduce more and more students in India to the courses in University of Strathclyde,Glasgow,Mark Wilber,International Liaison Manager,south Asia,Middle East is on a five-city tour to India. In the city to interact with students from various institutions,Wilber spoke about various aspects related to the education systems in the two countries,courses,global slowdown and so on.

Pune is the education center of India with a number of universities and colleges. It is thus a potential hub for students who would want to pursue their post graduation from universities abroad,” says Wilber who further adds,”The good thing about students in India is that they are curious to know more about the courses they want to do,the effectiveness of the courses and the placements that follow. Interacting with them is thus a brainstorming session for me.”

With over 200 graduate and post graduate courses in various fields that include- Arts,Engineering,Science,Management and so on to offer,Wilber adds,”The University of Strathclyde has over 25,000 full and part-time students,and over 34,000 students in continuing education and professional development with over 3,200 staff. The university is also one of Glasgow’s largest employers with nearly 99 percent placement every year.” With the global slowdown shrinking the employment opportunities across the globe,Wilber feels,”This is actually a good time for the students to upgrade their qualifications by doing better and professional courses from reputed universities. Good students from good universities will always have good opportunities.”

With over 1500 international students coming from different backgrounds studying at Strathclyde university,the syllabus is designed so as to bring them all on the same platform. Wilber adds,”We have vocation specific courses that can help the students become better professionals. The education system at our university is based on interactive learning that encourages students to get the concepts right.”
