The Bangalore-based GMR Group, along with Turkish company Limak and Malaysia Airports Holding Berhard Airports, has built the new airport terminal of the Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport (ISGA) in Turkey. The consortium had won the contract on the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model in July 2007, bagging its rights for 20 years at a cost of more than Rs 3,100 crore.

The completion of the project has now made GMR the first Indian private sector company to have successfully completed an airport project abroad. The airport, which aims to have an ultimate passenger handling capacity of 25 million annually, was thrown open on October 31.
