  • Visitors to the sub-registrar’s office, which opened at the MC Zone D building after a recent shift, had a harrowing time on Thursday.

Finding no place to sit at the new office, the visitors and advocates made themselves comfortable in a tent erected by the MC authorities for a land auction.

But MC Commissioner G S Ghuman issued orders asking tehsildaar Kanwalpreet Singh Randhawa to vacate the chairs as the “civic body is not supposed to provide seating arrangements for the office. Randhawa requested the MC chief to allow the visitors for today, but commissioner reportedly refused.

Ghuman also ordered that all vehicles of the sub-registrar’s staff and visitors be parked outside the MC Zone D building premises.

Talking to Newsline, Ghuman said: “We cannot allow any private vehicles to be parked inside. The tehsildaar should make his own arrangements for the visitors as these orders will be enforced on all days.”
