The Goa Police on Monday arrested two women for their alleged involvement in the killing of four young women, three of whom
were burnt to destroy the evidence.
Those arrested are a 16-year-old girl, who was friendly with one of the accused Sayron Rodrigues, and another accused, Chandrakant Talwar’s 32-year-old wife Grishma.
“Grishma was arrested in Mumbai and is being brought here while the girl was arrested at St Cruz village near Panaji,” Deputy Inspector General Ravindra Yadav told reporters.
Rodrigues and Talwar were arrested in Mumbai on October 17 and the police claimed they had confessed to killing all the four women whose bodies were found in different parts of the state.
All the four women had taken a lift in the car of the accused at different points of time and they were killed in the car, Yadav said.
The police have recovered two cars which were used in
the crime.
“The 16-year-old was present in the car when the women were murdered,” the DIG said but refused to elaborate whether Grishma was also present at that time.
Grishma reportedly went to Mumbai along with two accused after the crime. “She helped the accused in selling the gold which was stolen from the bodies,” Yadav said.
The police had found four bodies of which three have been identified. The killings between October 12 and October 13 had rocked the state.
Preliminary investigation had shown all the four
girls were killed for monetary and material gain, Yadav said.
