Golf: Rajesh holding advantage after round two

Rajesh Kumar Rawat shot a one under 69 to take a one stroke lead in round two of the PGTI Feeder Tour event being played at the Lucknow Golf Club.

Rajesh Kumar Rawat shot a one under 69 to take a one stroke lead in round two of the PGTI Feeder Tour event being played at the Lucknow Golf Club. Rawat currently has an overall score of four under 136 and is one stroke ahead of fellow Lucknow golfer Vijay Kumar and Mumbais Anil Bajrang Mane.The cut was declared at 11 over 151. Thirty-six professionals made the cut.

Rajesh Kumar Rawat (67-69) made four birdies against three bogeys in his second round. Rawat,who is currently ranked second on the PGTI Feeder Tour Order of Merit for 2011,hit it within seven to nine feet to set up birdies on the ninth,14th and 16th. He also sank a mammoth 30 feet putt for birdie on the 18th.

I hit my iron shots better than round one. However,my putting on day two was not as good as round one. I missed a number of short putts today. Its going to be really tough in round three as the experienced Vijay Kumar is just one stroke behind and he too has the local knowledge about this course. Ill have to take it shot by shot in the final round and not get too far ahead of myself, said Rawat.

Local favourite Vijay Kumar (70-67) and Mumbai’s Anil Bajrang Mane (70-67) are currently tied for second. Vijay fired an eagle,two birdies and a bogey in the second round to stay in touch with the leader.

Anil Bajrang Manes round featured an eagle,three birdies and two bogeys.

Mane chipped-in for eagle from 27 yards on the 16th. He also chipped-in from the edge for birdie on the second.

Pawan Kumar of Delhi is placed fourth at two under 138 while Manoj Kumar,Shiva Ram Shrestha,DS Kullar,Balwinder Singh Mattu and Md Sanju are in tied fifth at one over 141.

The closing function will be held at 2.00 pm on Thursday after the final round.
