Childless senior citizen -susceptibility to physical abuse for propertyBy: Vandana | 05-Mar-2009Reply | ForwardI agree with Mr. Madhavan. The Senior citizen would be forced to reveal the contents of will, and risk the differences that will ensue. But the plight of childless senior citizens would be more than the rest if this law is implemented. When the law says "in possession" of the properties of the senior citizens, law should take care to learn whether the possession is taken by force or by free will of the senior citizen. In the present form, the law may lead to physical abuse of the senior citizens, who will be forced to part with the possession and title of properties that may fetch them more than 10,000 pm. Can anybody do something to get this aspect addressed? The childless should be asked whether or not they are willing for a particular relative to be their caretaker. If not, then the obligations should not be there either way.
