Govt has failed in controlling communal tension: Maya

Terming the disturbance of communal harmony as a “serious and worrisome” issue,she said that the communal riots in Mathura,Bareilly,Pratapgarh followed by Faizabad and imposition of curfew for long periods is a disturbing matter for the state.

Mayawati said the state government should have kept the law and order “tight and strong” in these places which are communally sensitive. But the government remained unconcerned and indifferent to these serious issues and is busy in making hollow announcements,she said.

“Because of the SP government’s approach,the police and administration have got crippled. Instead of criminals,these police and administration officers are living in fear and terror,” the former chief minister said.

Mayawati alleged that the mafia and criminals had left the state during the BSP rule but now they were back.

She asked the SP government to control the communal tension by learning from the BSP government which kept the state free of communal tension with its “diligence and alertness” when the high court delivered the judgment on Ramjanmabhoomi Babri Masjid issue.
