The state government's move to challenge an order of the D K Trivedi Commission, appointed by the former, has surprised the Gujarat High Court. The Commission has been appointed to probe into the mysterious deaths of two minor students from the Asaram Ashram in July 2008. During the inquiry, the Commission recently ordered the government to produce the CD containing postmorterm procedure conducted on the two bodies and the related FSL report. However, the government did not produce the same and challenged the order at the HC. Asaram Ashram Trust has moved an application to be joined as party to the petition through its advocate S K Patel. The petitions came up for hearing before the HC on Wednesday. While explaining his case,Patel argued that on the one hand the government was appointing the Commission to bring out the truth and on the other hand it was not providing the documents sought by the Commission to conduct the probe. Patel said,The court expressed surprise to the government challenging the order of the Commission appointed by itself. It subsequently asked the counsel for the government to take instructions if it wanted to press the petition or would like to withdraw the same, he added.
