The state government has constituted six committees to select genuine candidates among the 18,000 constables, who were recently given provisional appointment letters following the Supreme Court’s decision. The constables, recruited by the Mulayam Singh government in 2005-06, were dismissed by the Mayawati government in 2007.
According to a press release issued by the state government on Tuesday, each committee, to be known as Scrutiny Committee, will be headed by an ADG-rank officer with one DIG-rank officer as its member.
The government has also constituted sub-committees that will function under the main committees.
About six to nine sub-committees are likely to be under each committee, whose task is to separate the tainted candidates from the selected list of 18,000 constables.
Incidentally, the state government had earlier pleaded that it was not possible to separate the tainted and non-tainted candidates from the list of recruited candidates.
According to the release, the committees will examine the records of candidates and verify their documents regarding their physical and educational qualifications, besides their claim for reservation. The committees will also inspect the merit lists prepared by the board that had recruited the jawans.
The ADG-rank officers who head the committees are Padman Singh (CB-CID), Atul (Security), Manoj Kumar (Security), R K Tewari (Special Investigation Team), Udayan Parmar (PTC, Moradabad) and Arun Kumar Gupta (Traffic).
