Govt signs $286 mn pact with WB

The government signed a loan and credit agreement with the World Bank worth $286.15 million.

The government today signed a loan and credit agreement with the World Bank worth $286.15 million. The money will be used for two projects — Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project and Capacity Building for Industrial Pollution Management Project.

Of the total funds,$ 221.965 million will go towards the integrated coastal zone management project. The project will assist in building national capacity for the implementation of comprehensive coastal management approach and piloting the integrated coastal zone management approach in Gujarat,Orissa and West Bengal.

Of the loan,$25.21 million will go towards the capacity building for industrial pollution management project. The objectives are to build tangible human and technical capacity in state pollution control agencies and a policy framework to establish a national programmme for rehabilitation of polluted sites.
