A few choose to go contemporary with abstract art and figures adorning their houses, while others go in for an ethnic look with bright tapestry and carved furniture. However, what might be seen as common in both is the use of decorative plants. No matter what décor one chooses for their house, a touch of green adds life to the ambience. Be it about pepping up a dull corner in the house, or giving a contrast to the light coloured curtains and furniture, a plant just sets it right. However, it might not be possible for everybody to choose the right decorative plant and maintain it and also maintain the newness by frequently changing it. Here, Sharmila Prabhudesai, who not only rents out decorative plants but also helps in choosing the right one for the right corner, proves to be of much help.
Garden designing has been a passion for Prabhudesai, who also works for an advertising firm. Prabhudesai was dually benefited, as the business of renting out plants to offices not only earned her money, but allowed her to do what she enjoyed doing the most- Gardening.
“Gardening is a hobby turned business for me. I always loved being with nature. Few years back, when I came across the gardening diploma at Fergusson College, I immediately enrolled and completed it successfully. When we constructed our own Bungalow few years back, I got an opportunity to try my hand on various things. After this I took up assignments of designing bungalow gardens, balconies and office gardens,” recalls Prabhudesai adding, “While decorating any place, the type, volume and look (sleek / bushy) is considered. Indoor plants need good maintenance and it’s important to change them periodically. It helps in giving new look to the place every time.”
