About two years ago, Shishir Shroff, an alumnus of Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School Sarabha Nagar pursued his passion for learning aeromodelling through a workshop in Chandigarh. It was the time when he dreamt of making a working aeromodel at his own. And now after accomplishing his dream, Shishir said, “It was an uphill task for me but I could do it because of my dedication and patience. Now I am here to share the basics of aeromodelling with juniors of my old school as I do not want to make them suffer like me for pursuing this passion.”
Shishir who passed out from this school last year, presently busy in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and manufacturing Jabalpur. He said, “Aeromodelling is my passion. I learnt about it at a workshop in Chandigarh. But for making an aeromodel, I consulted about a dozen experts at Chandigarh, Sirhand, IIT Kanpur etc. I also consulted internet and some other literature available here and there. It took about a year-long time to make a working aeromodel equipped with mechanical controls, engine etc. To make it fly, I also bought a remote control but the body was prepared by myself. Giving proper shape to the body in accordance with the angles and then finishing it with water proof paint etc consumed a lot of time. The aeromodel, which I prepared can fly up to two kilometers but it should remain in vision, so as to control through remote control.”
