Gujarat opposes relocation of Gir lions in apex court

The Gujarat government on Friday submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court stating its objections to any relocation of Asiatic lions in Gir forests Kuno-Palpur in Madhya Pradesh,officials said.

Last week,a meeting of the State Wildlife Board,chaired by CM Narendra Modi,had rejected proposals to relocate lions to the neighbouring state without the concurrence of locals.

Taxmen ‘detect’ Rs 45 cr in undisclosed income

SURAT: Income Tax officials here claimed to have detected an undisclosed income of about Rs 45 crore after searches on the premises of two city-based real estate developers. Jewellery worth Rs 2.10 crore was also seized during the raids on 23 premises owned by them and their associates,tax officials said. A huge team of taxmen took part in the raids that began on Thursday.
