Seeking to discontinue the perks given to the former founder of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) chairman Verghese Kurien, the Gujarat Government has written a letter to the board of GCMMF on the issue. Kurien resigned in 2006 after heading GCMMF for 33 years.

The board, earlier had decided that the perks provided to Kurien like the car used by him and his wife, drivers and cook would be continued. However, the letter from the state Government has prompted the GCMMF into action. The Baroda dairy chairman and BJP MLA Madhu Srivastava proposed the board to implement the directive at the earliest. “I just mentioned that this is against the law. The board will get dissolved if the state government directive is not followed,” said Shrivastava.
