Agitation would be revived to press for Gujjar community’s demands including reservation if the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government does not fulfill its commitment on the issue,a Gujjar leader warned on Saturday.
“We have clear demands of five per cent reservation quota under the limits of 50 per cent,withdrawal of the cases lodged against Gujjar agitators,release of agitators who were arrested during the agitation,monthly pension of Rs 10,000 to those injured in the stir and recommendation to the Centre to set up a Gujjar regiment in Indian Army,” President of All India Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti,Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said.
A historical mahapanchayat would be held in Karauli district on Sunday to discuss the issue with the people of the community,he said.
“We were assured by both Vasundhara Raje-led previous BJP and Ashok Gehlot-led present Congress government to fulfil our demands but Gujjar availed nothing,” he alleged.
“To seek the guidance of our people,we have called a mahapanchayat in Gadmora area in Karauli district tomorrow which is going to be a huge and historical one where decisions will be taken about our next move,” Vidhudi,a former Congress MLA,told a press conference here.
Earlier agitation were led by people with political interests and,therefore,it was decided such individuals would not be nominated as the office bearer,he said,adding that the movement would be non-political.
