Two young boys from a prominent family in Gurgaon were rescued by the Gurgaon Police within 14 hours of their kidnap on Thursday morning.
According to sources, the brothers are students of Class VI and VIII at GD Goenka School in Sohna. They live in Sector-14 here.
The police on Friday claimed to have arrested two of the four accused. The police have also recovered vehicle the suspects hijacked from the family driver and which was used to take away the boys, Gurgaon Police Commissioner S S Deswal told the media on Friday.
“The two brothers are aged 12 and 13 years,” Deswal said. “They were kidnapped around 7.15 am on Thursday from Sector-14 when the family driver went to drop them at a bus shelter. They were in a Toyota Innova. The armed abductors — all aged between 20 and 25 years — forcefully entered the MUV and hijacked it.”
The police received information about the abduction about an hour later: at 8.15 am.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Sachin Rathee, a resident of Sector-3 in Rohtak; and one Bittoo, alias Shiv Kumar, of Kanhaili village in Rohtak district. According to the police, the two other suspects on the run are Sunil (alias Monte) and Anil — both from Bethia district in Bihar.
The gang reportedly sought a ransom of Rs 5 crore from the family for freeing the two boys.
According to Deswal, the abductors kept the boys in Kanhaili village in Rohtak. But as the police zeroed in, the accused fled and left the two behind, the police today said. The alleged abductors were trying to shift the two to a different location at the time, the police said.
