Virender Singh alias Binder Gujjar hired UP gang to avenge April attack on him,say police

Newly elected Gurgaon councillor Virender Singh alias Binder Gujjar was arrested on Tuesday by police in connection with the murder of two men in Rithauj village under Bhondsi police station.

The arrest followed a manhunt after two sharpshooters, arrested by the Delhi Police for the Bhondsi killings, claimed that they had been hired by Binder to eliminate the men who he suspected of attacking him in April.

Naveen Kasana and Udaiveer Singh alias Bhola, who worked for the Jaggu Pehalwan gang of Uttar Pradesh, told the Delhi Police that the councillor paid Jaggu Rs 10 lakh to avenge the attack. Rajkumar and Dharmender Tanwar, blamed for the attack, were killed last month.

Binder, elected councillor from Ward 21,has been charged under IPC Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) and will be produced in court on Wednesday.

“We interrogated Binder for a long time on Monday. All evidences proved he was connected to the murder case. After producing him in court,we will try to seek his police remand,” DCP (South) H Akhtar told Newsline.

“The hired sharpshooters were naming Binder and knew of his involvement even though they did not know the councillor. They had dealt only with Jaggu. With this lead,we zeroed-in on Binder,” Akhtar said.

Police sources said though Binder had been named in several cases,he had helped police nab a close associate of one of the two men killed in Bhondsi. This, too, may have led to the attack on him,the sources said.

Phone call records of the councillor were also checked.

Asked if the MCG would act against a councillor arrested by police in a criminal case,MCG Commissioner Sudhir Rajpal said: “If there is a section or provision in the Municipal Act,then we will look into it. I cannot tell you off-hand.”
