  • Three days after a girl from Manipur alleged that she had been molested by a store manager where she worked as a salesgirl; an FIR was registered by the Gurgaon police under Section 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC on Monday.

No arrests, however, have been made so far. “We will verify and will initiate action on those found guilty,” Police Commissioner (Gurgaon) S S Deswal said. According to Thangmilen, an activist fighting for the 19-year-old victim, the girl belongs to Tangkhul tribe in Manipur

“She came to Gurgaon some five months ago and lives with her cousins in Sikandarpur village. She took up a job at Gini & Jony store in MGF Metropolitan Mall here. Her office timings are from 10.30 am to 9 pm. On Friday, when she was about to leave for home, a colleague, Tulesh, asked her to stay back since the store manager had instructed him to inform her. The manager wanted her to wait on the pretext of taking a few details from her in order to help her get an ATM card. Meanwhile, her colleagues had left for the day except for Tulesh. The accused manager, Vinay Kumar Yadav, allegedly started showing her pornographic pictures on his laptop and allegedly asked her for sexual favours,” Thangmilen said.

When the teenager said she wanted to leave, the accused allegedly molested her and even tried to rape her, Thangmilen added. Tulesh, meanwhile, was waiting outside.
