Even as activist Anna Hazare remains adamant on going on fast from Tuesday onwards in his fight against corruption, residents of Gurgaon have come out in full support for the cause.
Around 300 residents, members of various Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) and NGOs came out in support of Hazare and organised a candlelight march at Leisure Valley on Monday.
Organised by India Against Corruption,Gurgaon Morcha, residents shouted slogans in support of Hazare and also criticised the Congress partys attempts to curb the movement.
After the march residents have decided to court a symbolic arrest on Tuesday if the police arrest hazare. R S Rathee, president of Gurgaon Citizens Council said the people of the city will fully support Hazares fight.
What Anna is fighting for is totally justified and we fully support the cause. There is a chance that the police might arrest him and not allow him to go on with his fast. We will also court arrest if the situation arises, said Rathee.
The turn out, however, remained thinner than expected. Officials said a large number of women and children also come out for the candlelight march and this shows that everyone is aware.
Organisers said that a similar gathering has been planned for Tuesday as well.
