A 42-year-old man from Keshavnagar, Mundhwa, died of H1N1 virus late on Monday night. He succumbed to the virus at Noble Hospital in Hadapsar.
He had symptoms such as fever, throat pain and breathlessness since October 12 and was undergoing treatment at KEM Hospital. He was immediately referred to Sassoon General Hospital as there was no vacancy in the ICU. He, however, took discharge from Sassoon and got admitted to Sahyadri Hospital at Bibvewadi following which he was referred to Noble Hospital.
The NIV report for the throat swab tested positive for H1N1 virus on October 16. He died of septic shock owing to virus-related pneumonia.
So far, PMC has recorded 22 swine flu deaths since April this year.
