Habib beats Jain in close encounter

    Top seed Rafat Habib beat 7th seed Manish Jain 4-2 to win the Poona Club -Manisha Open and Invitational Snooker Championship 2009 on Friday.

    In the mouthwatering clash, Habib edged past his opponent with a score of 58-57,29-60,73-07,32-64,84-12,83-0.

    The Pusan Asian Gold medallist had to battle hard in the first four frames but ran out clear winner in the end.

    Haib who currently represents railways said that the match was a close one. “Manish played well in the first four frames but I held my nerve and managed to win it in the end.” Snooker has been in the blood of this 38-year old cueist as his father, Syed Habib was an international snooker player.

    He started his snooker career at the age of 16 and is the current 9 ball national champion. "I is looking forward to a good performance in his next tounament in Qatar in October where I would be representing the country," he said.
