Red Bull team principal Christian Horner reckons that any partnership between reigning Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel and McLaren star Lewis Hamilton would not work.

A Hamilton-Vettel combination,on paper,would look very attractive. But what we have to look at is the dynamics of a partnership and it’s difficult to see how two sportsmen at the absolute top of their game could work in harmony under one roof, The Daily Mail quoted Horner,as saying.

History demonstrates,whether you look at Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna or Nigel Mansell and Nelson Piquet,that it doesnt tend to work. Lewis is one of the top three in the world,but we are very happy with the combination we have, he added.

Hamilton has a break clause in his 75 million contract that allows him to leave McLaren in December -12 months before the end of his five-year deal — unless he is world champion or the team win this seasons constructors championship.

The 26-year-old is currently 89 points behind Vettel in the points table.
