  • Promising a fresh wave of rock, Bengaluru-based band Lounge Piranha will tap the city beats

It is a beguiling contemporary sound that deviates from the traditional rock music and with stiff beats of drums and guitar strums they get you a taste of the post rock. Moving away from the indicative rock sounds, already identified for their progressive experiments and one album old the Bengaluru based band Lounge Piranha will jam it in the city this time.

The band that was formed four years back and since then has tried experimentation with other genres, gradually changed the music and played across India the culmination of which is seen in their first album Going Nowhere. “The album was launched last November however soon after that, Rohan who was on bass guitar quit so there was a sort of gap for long and we did not do much. We are back on track right now and will have the album promoted for this tour. We are also planning on our next album that will be released sometime next year,” says Abhijeet Tambe who is on guitar and vocals.

Presented by Hard Rock Cafe, the band will perform at Pyramid Lawns, Koregaon Park, 9 pm onwards. The other members include George Mathen who is on the drum kit and Kamal Singh on guitar and vocals along with friends who add in during the performances. Speaking on the lyrics and the experimentation Abhijeet says, “The lyrics we write are a product of our experience from a journey or anything that is eventually penned and becomes a poetry. As far as merging rock with other genres is concerned, we have done that a lot but its increasingly happening with classical instruments these days, which more often tends to look like a portrayal of knowledge.”
